Girls in White Dresses With Blue Satin Sashes
Today, I got to see a 35mm print of “The Sound of Music” in one of my classes, and it’s been so long since I’ve seen the film, I forgot how influential it has been for me. I almost burst into tears from happiness during “My Favorite Things.”
It’s funny, watching that scene again, it reminded me of my #smallvictories way of life, and how that’s been the most helpful thing for me to stay grateful and motivated and optimistic. “My Favorite Things” is really the essence of #smallvictories and of how gratefulness for small things can lead to bigger accomplishments of happiness. It’s bizarre how celebrating small victories has not only been a way of forgiving myself but also a motivational tool (“If all I want to do is celebrate cleaning the kitchen today, than I better fucking clean the goddamn kitchen” #smallvictories).
So these are a few of my favorite things, “The Sound of Music” edition: Christopher Plummer’s everlasting stone cold foxiness, green floral print lederhosen, Gretel and Kurt’s faces in the group scenes ALWAYS, Julie Andrews’ everything.
